Week 4 Assignment: Stakeholder Outline and Presentation
To complete this assignment, answer the questions provided. Then,
complete the outline chart on the next page to organize your presentation to
stakeholders, and then create your presentation using the M/S Office or Web 2.0
Technology Tool of your choice.
Identify
current or potential stakeholders you might invite to a presentation on your
family-school-community partnership idea. Why should they be included in your
audience?
I would extend an invitation to community members,
students, parents/guardians, teachers, and administrators, to join me in my
family-school-community presentation. It is important to include the people
who will directly, and indirectly have an impact on the proposal and in the goals/objectives
of the plan. Although it would be most likely that only stakeholders who are
highly interested in the matter at hand, get involved and participate. Working
together as a team with all possible stakeholders is essential in order to
achieve our goal for student success. It is important to get these group
involved especially they will come with various points of views and ideas
that can be included in our student success plan.

How might your presentation sell stakeholders on your partnership proposal? What strategies do you envision using in your presentation that will help you state your position and secure stakeholders’ support? What specific considerations will you emphasize to reach this audience?
I must include all stakeholders from the start. It
is important to present and communicate the goals/objectives, as well as the
data to proof our claim, clearly and in an easy to understand format. It is
also necessary to create a supportive and welcoming atmosphere. I envision
the creation of a partnership that is committed in advocating student
success. In addition, the partnership must embrace and respect all
stakeholders and understand the various points of view that others might
have. I would also need to address the needs of the audience, such as:
language, transportation, and child care (among a few). It is important to
have the meeting take place at a central location that is easily accessible
to all stakeholders, so that transportation is not a barrier. In some cases a
translators might be necessary, so that also needs to be considered. Lastly,
providing some form of child care for those parents that have little ones, can
help encourage parent involvement, because their needs are being met. Overall
the partnership proposal would focus on increasing involvement to embrace the
same goals and expectations, which will help improve student achievement.

Focusing in on a current
student issue that interferes with academic achievement, would definitely be
the correlation between student attendance and grades. After reviewing the
data that I collected from the grades and attendance of my students, I
observed that the students who are failing the class, or have the lower
grades, are the students that have the most attendance problems. The data
that I collected and reviewed shows the following:

V. What You Want from Your Audience
|

In order to support student
achievement, a family-school-community partnership needs to be implemented, a
partnership that focuses on our Jr. High students-parents-teachers. Our
school offers a positive school climate, and although there are many programs
that reach out to families, I find that there is a need to reach out to the
parents of our Jr. High students, because our young teens are struggling with
their attendance and their grades. As an educator I want to create awareness
of the correlation between attendance and grades. I want the community,
students, parents, teachers and administrators to take an active role
supporting student’s attendance. We need to create incentives the promote
attendance, so that students grades improve. I want to help families understand
that in order to achieve student success, we must work together in decision
making, and in building awareness, knowledge and skills to be an advocate for
all student success.
